A Ceremony That Honours Your Person
I know from personal experience how disappointing an impersonal funeral can be. When my mum died, the ceremony felt cold and formal, nothing like the warm, loving person she was. When I lost a dear friend recently, a poorly managed service undermined all the love her family had put into planning.
These experiences are exactly why I became a celebrant. I want to make sure that when families trust me with this most important of goodbyes, the ceremony is everything it should be – personal, meaningful, and a fitting tribute to someone who mattered.

How We'll Work Together
-
Our First Meeting
When you're ready, we'll meet in person. I'll come to you – whichever location feels most comfortable.
This meeting is about listening. I'll ask about your loved one – their life, their personality, what made them laugh, what they valued, what they meant to the people around them. We'll talk about what you envision for the ceremony and any special elements you'd like to include.
There's no rush, no time limit. Take whatever time you need to share your stories.
-
Creating the Ceremony
After our meeting, I'll create a ceremony that captures who your person was. Not generic platitudes, but real stories, real personality, real meaning.
I'll suggest readings and poems that might feel appropriate, but I'm equally happy to include favourite songs, book passages, or words written by family members.
If multiple family members want to deliver eulogies, we'll make space for that. If grandchildren want to share memories or play music, we'll include them. This ceremony will reflect your family and your loved one.
-
Liaising with Funeral Directors
I'll work closely with your funeral director and the ceremony venue to ensure everything runs smoothly. You have enough to think about – let me take care of these co-ordination details.
-
The Day Itself
I'll arrive early to meet with family members, check final details, and make sure everyone knows what's happening when.
During the ceremony, I'll speak clearly, warmly, and with the respect your loved one deserves. My years of managing large events means I can handle any unexpected situations calmly and professionally.
What Makes Me Different
-
Genuine Empathy
I understand grief. I've lost people who mattered deeply to me, and I know how overwhelming this time can be. I'll support you with patience and compassion.
-
Listening Skills
Your stories about your loved one are precious. I'll listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and make sure the ceremony reflects who they truly were.
-
Professional Experience
My 25 years organising events means I can handle logistics smoothly while staying focused on what really matters – honouring your person and supporting your family.
-
Warmth Without Being Overfamiliar
I'll bring warmth and care to the ceremony without overstepping. This is your family's moment, and I'm here to facilitate it with sensitivity and respect.
