General Questions
What is a celebrant?
A celebrant is someone who creates and conducts personalised ceremonies for life's important moments. Unlike registrars (who are bound by legal requirements and time limits) or religious officiants (who follow specific religious traditions), independent celebrants give you complete freedom to create exactly the ceremony you want.

Booking & Timing
How far in advance should we book?
For weddings, I recommend booking 6-12 months ahead, especially for popular summer dates. However, I can sometimes accommodate shorter timeframes. For funerals, we'll work within whatever timeline the family needs. For naming ceremonies, 2-3 months notice is ideal but shorter timeframes are often possible.

Planning Your Ceremony
What happens at our first meeting?
We'll have a relaxed conversation where I get to know you and understand what you're dreaming of for your ceremony. There's no hard sell, no pressure – just a friendly chat to see if we're the right fit for each other. This meeting can happen in person or via Zoom, whatever suits you.

Symbolic Rituals
What symbolic rituals can we include?
Popular options include ring warming, hand-fasting, unity candles, sand ceremonies, tree planting, love letters, time capsules, and cultural traditions from your heritage. We can also create something completely unique to you. (Additional charges apply for symbolic rituals.)
Can we create our own ritual?
Working Together
What's your style as a celebrant?
I'm warm, organised, and genuinely invested in getting your ceremony right. I bring professionalism and calm confidence from 25 years in event management, but I'm also friendly and approachable. I love to celebrate joy, honour memories with sensitivity, and create moments that feel authentic to you.

Specific to Weddings
Do we still need a registrar?
In England and Wales, yes. The legal signing with a registrar is a simple process that takes about 10 minutes. Most couples do this a few days before or after their celebrant ceremony. Your celebration with me can then be exactly what you want, with no legal constraints.
Can we get legally married at the same time as our celebrant ceremony?
What if we're having a destination wedding?
Specific to Funerals
How quickly can you arrange a funeral ceremony?
Once we've met and talked about your loved one, I can usually have the ceremony written within a couple of days. I understand funeral arrangements often happen quickly, and I'll work within whatever timeline you need.
Can we include religious elements?
What if family members have different ideas about the ceremony?
Can the ceremony be recorded or livestreamed?
Specific to Naming Ceremonies
Is a naming ceremony legal?
No, it's purely a celebration. If you want to legally register your child's name or change your name legally, that happens separately through official channels.
Do we need to choose godparents?
Can we have a naming ceremony for older children?
Can adults have naming ceremonies?
